Oreo Cream Mini Cheesecakes

Oreo Cream Mini Cheesecakes are my go-to when I want a small dessert that still feels like a real treat. They have a cookie crust, a whole Oreo tucked in the middle, and a smooth cheesecake top.

The flavor is classic cookies and cream, and the texture is creamy with little Oreo bites throughout. I like this version because it bakes quickly, doesn’t need a water bath, and the size makes them easy to portion.

These are especially good for holiday platters, potlucks, and any time you need a dessert you can stash in the fridge until you’re ready. I usually keep the topping simple with whipped cream and extra Oreo crumbs.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

Small and tidy: You get the full cheesecake experience in a muffin liner, so they’re easy to serve and easy to grab.

Real cookies and cream flavor: Using Oreos in the crust, a whole cookie base, and chopped cookies in the batter gives you that familiar Oreo taste.

No water bath: These bake up nicely in a standard muffin pan, so you don’t have to mess around with extra pans or steam.

Make-ahead friendly: They need chilling time anyway, which makes them a great dessert to prep the day before.

Simple toppings: Whipped cream and Oreo crumbs look good and keep things easy, but you can also leave them plain.

Ingredients You’ll Need

Oreo Crust

  • Oreo cookies (crushed): I crush them pretty fine so the crust presses in neatly and doesn’t crumble when you bite in.

  • Unsalted butter: Melted butter is what makes the crumbs hold together. If your crust feels dry, it usually just needs a more thorough mix.
  • Whole Oreo cookies: This is the fun part. It makes a sturdy base, and it gives you that clear Oreo layer under the cheesecake.

Cheesecake Filling

  • Cream cheese: Use full-fat blocks if you can, not whipped or tub cream cheese. Softened cream cheese is what keeps the batter smooth.
  • Granulated sugar: Regular white sugar keeps the flavor clean and classic, which is what I want with Oreos.
  • Vanilla extract: Don’t skip it. It rounds out the filling and keeps it from tasting flat.
  • Large egg: Room temperature helps it blend in quickly. I mix the egg in gently so the tops stay smoother.
  • Sour cream: This adds that slight tang that makes cheesecake taste like cheesecake. Plain Greek yogurt works too if that’s what you have.

  • Heavy cream: It loosens the batter just enough and makes the filling feel a little lighter.
  • Oreo cookies (chopped): I like a rough chop so you get some bigger cookie bits. Too fine and they disappear into the batter.

Optional Toppings

  • Whipped cream: A small swirl is plenty. It makes them look finished without making them fussy.
  • Oreo crumbs: Great for a quick garnish, especially if you have a few crumbs left from making the crust.

Recipe Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Heat the oven to 325°F and line a 12-cup muffin pan with paper liners.
  2. Mix the crust: Mix the finely crushed Oreo crumbs with the melted butter until the crumbs are evenly moistened.
  3. Press the crust: Add about 1 tablespoon of crumb mixture to each liner and press firmly into an even layer.

  4. Add the Oreo base: Place 1 whole Oreo on top of each crust and press lightly so it sits flat.
  5. Beat the cream cheese and sugar: Beat the softened cream cheese and sugar until smooth and well blended.
  6. Add the vanilla and egg: Mix in the vanilla, then add the egg and mix just until combined.
  7. Mix in the dairy: Mix in the sour cream and heavy cream until the batter is smooth.
  8. Fold in the Oreos: Fold in the chopped Oreos so they’re evenly mixed through the batter.
  9. Fill the liners: Divide the batter evenly over the Oreo bases, filling each about three-quarters full.
  10. Bake: Bake for 14 to 18 minutes, until the centers are just set and still slightly jiggly.

  11. Cool: Let the cheesecakes cool in the pan for 30 minutes, then transfer to a rack and cool to room temperature.
  12. Chill and serve: Chill for at least 4 hours or overnight. Add whipped cream and Oreo crumbs before serving if you want.

Some of my tips!

This is the part that really makes a difference. If you only read one section, make it this one because this is where I share the little trick that helps the recipe turn out so well.

Recipe Tips & Tricks

Use room temperature dairy. Cold cream cheese and sour cream tend to leave little lumps behind. Room temp mixes up quickly and keeps the batter smoother.

Mix gently after the egg goes in. Once you add the egg, don’t beat the batter hard. Overmixing can add extra air and makes cracks more likely.

Press the crust firmly. A tight crust holds together better when you peel off the liner. I use the bottom of a small glass if my fingers aren’t doing the job.

Don’t overbake them. Pull them when the centers still have a slight jiggle. They finish setting as they cool and then firm up more in the fridge.

Chill fully before removing the liners. If you try to eat them warm, they’re soft and a little messy. Once they’re cold, they come out clean and slice nicely if you want to halve one.

Make some touches!

There are plenty of easy ways to serve this depending on the occasion. Keep it simple, or add a few small touches to make it feel a little more special.

Serving Suggestions

  • Whipped cream: A small swirl on top is all you need. I like adding Oreo crumbs right before serving so they stay crisp.
  • Fresh berries: Strawberries or raspberries are nice on the plate with these. It’s a simple way to add something fresh next to a rich dessert.
  • Chocolate sauce: A light drizzle looks great and leans into the cookies-and-cream thing. I keep it thin so it doesn’t overwhelm the cheesecake.
  • Coffee or espresso: These are really good with coffee. A latte or cold brew is especially nice if you’re serving them after dinner.

Save it for later

This section covers how to store leftovers and what parts of the recipe you can prepare ahead of time.

Storage and Make Ahead

Store leftovers covered in the fridge for up to 4 days. I keep them in a lidded container so they don’t pick up fridge smells. If you’re adding whipped cream, I usually add it right before serving.

You can make this recipe ahead since the cheesecakes need time to chill anyway. They’re actually easier to serve the next day when they’re fully set.

If you want them to last longer, you can freeze individual portions in an airtight container. Thaw in the fridge overnight and add toppings after they’ve thawed.

A few quick answers

This section covers a few extra details that may help before you head to the recipe card.

Recipe FAQs

How do I know when mini cheesecakes are done baking?

I look for set edges and centers that still have a slight jiggle when you gently shake the pan. If the centers look wet or sloshy, they need a couple more minutes.

Can I use Greek yogurt instead of sour cream?

Yes. Plain Greek yogurt works well here and keeps the same tangy cheesecake flavor. I prefer full-fat if you have it, but low-fat will still work.

Why did my mini cheesecakes crack?

The most common reasons are overmixing after the egg goes in or baking a little too long. Small cracks aren’t a big deal on minis, especially if you’re adding whipped cream on top.

Can I make these without the whole Oreo on the bottom?

You can. They’ll still be great with just the crumb crust, and you’ll have a little more room for filling. I like the whole Oreo layer for the extra cookie bite, but it’s optional.

Can I freeze Oreo mini cheesecakes?

Yes, these freeze well. I freeze them plain, then thaw in the fridge overnight and add whipped cream and crumbs right before serving.
