INGREDIENTS

Brownie Batter

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted and slightly cooled
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs room temperature
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp fine salt
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder.

Peanut Butter Swirl

  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 to 2 tbsp milk
  • pinch of salt.

INSTRUCTIONS

Prep

  • Heat oven to 350 F
  • line an 8 inch square pan with parchment and lightly grease
  • whisk peanut butter powdered sugar milk and salt until smooth and pourable.

Bake

  • Whisk melted butter brown sugar and granulated sugar until glossy
  • whisk in eggs and vanilla until fully combined
  • sift in cocoa flour salt and baking powder then fold just until no dry streaks remain
  • spread batter evenly in pan
  • dollop peanut butter mixture over batter and gently swirl with a knife
  • bake until edges are set and a toothpick inserted near center comes out with a few moist crumbs 28 to 35 minutes
  • cool completely before slicing for clean squares.

Notes

1. For extra chew do not overbake; Use natural peanut butter only if well stirred and thick; Swap creamy for crunchy peanut butter for texture; Add 1/2 cup chocolate chips or chopped peanuts if desired; Store airtight up to 4 days or freeze up to 2 months
