INGREDIENTS

Pretzel Crust

  • 2 cups pretzels crushed
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 3 tbsp granulated sugar.

Cream Cheese Layer

  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 8 oz whipped topping thawed.

Strawberry Layer

  • 6 oz strawberry gelatin mix
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 16 oz frozen sliced strawberries partially thawed.

INSTRUCTIONS

Pretzel Crust

  • Heat oven to 350 F
  • mix crushed pretzels with melted butter and sugar until evenly moistened
  • press firmly into a 9x13 inch baking dish
  • bake until set and fragrant about 10 minutes
  • cool completely to room temperature.

Cream Cheese Layer

  • Beat cream cheese and sugar until smooth and fully dissolved
  • fold in whipped topping until uniform
  • spread evenly over cooled crust and seal to the edges to prevent seepage
  • refrigerate 30 minutes.

Strawberry Layer

  • Whisk gelatin mix into boiling water until fully dissolved
  • cool to room temperature until no longer warm
  • stir in strawberries
  • pour evenly over chilled cream layer
  • refrigerate until fully set about 4 hours.

Notes

1. Seal the cream layer all the way to the pan edges to keep the crust crisp. Use fresh sliced strawberries instead of frozen but cool the gelatin longer before pouring. Substitute homemade sweetened whipped cream for whipped topping if desired
